What is the orientation programme all about?

During this free programme you will discover a variety of job opportunities within healthcare and social care. You will have the chance to look at which occupation suits you best and what training you will need. That way, you can make a conscious choice. Best of all: it means that within 10 short weeks you have an excellent chance of finding a job.

Upon completing the programme, you will receive the Healthcare and Social Care Orientation Program certificate. You are then free to move on to other programmes, such as Basic Individual Care.

Programme content

  • you’re interested
  • you’re 23 or older
  • you have recent work experience
  • you’re interested in self-development
  • you like working with people
  • you’re competent in Dutch (B2 minimum)
  • We want to get a sense of whether this programme will suit you
  • You can see whether or not the programme meets your expectations
  • We’ll go through the practical matters, such as registration
  • We’ll explain how you can take part in the programme for free
  • The intake will last a max. of 30 min
  • Personal health care assistant
  • Nurse (HBO-V/MBO)
  • Youth Services
  • Disabled care supervisor
  • Mental health counselor
  • Social worker (HBO)
  • Childcare worker
  • Doctor’s assistant
  • 4 hours per week home study
  • max. 30 participants (full = full!)
  • Instructors from HvA, InHolland Academy, RocvA
  • Access to a learning coach throughout entire programme

Classes are held in the Health Experience Centre Slotervaart (old Slotervaart Hospital) in Amsterdam, and are conducted by Hogeschool Inholland Academy, Hogeschool Amsterdam and Nova College, under the guidance of Roc Amsterdam.

IN Amsterdam

In cooperation with IN Amsterdam, ROC van Amsterdam, Hogeschool van Amsterdam and House of Skills, the Regional Work Centre for Greater Amsterdam finances the Orientation Programme Healthcare and Socialcare for internationals with residence in Greater Amsterdam. This programme introduces the Dutch healthcare sector and network to internationals and includes different levels of Dutch language training.
